And it comes full circle . . .

So a week from today, on December 19th, I get on a plane and head back to the U.S.! I’ve been here a little over five months, and even though in a lot of ways that doesn’t seem to be that long, I am definitely ready to spend a couple of weeks at home!

I am VERRRRRY EXCITED AND SURPRISED (!) to see my family and friends, and am also just looking forward to being able to get in my Jeep (haven’t sold it yet) and driving around on some quiet country roads without 9 million motorbikes zooming around me, squid carts dodging in front of me, vehicles coming at me head-on in my lane, etc.

People keep asking me if I’m missing certain foods and I’m really not. HCMC is such a big city that you can pretty much get anything you want to eat. The things I’m missing - in addition to my family and friends, of course - are really all just convenience-oriented - being able to drive around without a bunch of madness going on around me, being able to communicate people without using sign language and speaking very slowly, just having a basic clue as to what is going on around me, etc.

On Saturday the 15th I am flying to Phnom Penh, Cambodia with Tim to look at a potential investment property, returning to HCMC on Monday the 17th. Then it will be just two days before I get on a plane and head home!

I’ll probably blog some from the U.S., so stay tuned! I hope you all have save travels wherever you’re heading for the holidays and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

    Email my your plans.
